Staff Training
Vascular
In 2005 Fistula First was presented to the dialysis communities across the nation. This has been a great program for patient comfort and infection control. However, the challenge has been that patient care tech’s have not had the follow-up of training required to care for new and existing fistula’s. This lack of training for new maturing fistula’s, rate of infiltrations, infections and clotting is alarming and increases discomfort for the patient, increases patient mortality, and subsequently dramatically decreases dialysis center revenues.
Vascular access is the one of the most important parts in the clinical setting. By training staff and efficiently caring for patients with fistulas, many other challenges are resolved.
Visions for Care has solutions for Fistula Training, including on-site training and post-training literature.
Education sessions are usually done with on-site training sessions with follow-up on the clinic floor. The avoidance of risk to the clinic, the loss of potential revenue, the patient pain and time saved, is well worth the staff training investment.
