For a new dialysis patient, starting dialysis is confusing and frightening. When a new catheter or fistula is placed in the patient it can be very scary, without the proper information.
Visions for Care has a simple program for staff to assist in these situations. We gather and generate materials for staff and patients/caregivers to inform them of what is going to be happening in their new condition. This education material allows the staff’s limited time to be used best to sit with and calm the family and patient. And then having something physical to read and review can be a great comfort to the patient and the caregiver(s).
