Large amounts of the clinic budget can be lost or saved depending on how a clinic floor is operated. Two areas are particularly relevant:
How the Floor is Organized: If a clinic floor is disorganized, cluttered, with no set rules or guidelines, or sloppy implementation, patient care will be jeopardized and will place the clinic at risk. The interaction with the patients and staff is intense during change over and when any type of emergency arises. This is where infection control and good training come into play.
Lack of Training: Many charge nurses and clinical directors have not had the basic training or current up-to-date training to run a clinic floor efficiently. Bad habits from old employees and a lack of training for new employees can exacerbate risking a patient’s life, create non-compliance with regulatory bodies, and destroy revenue for the clinic.
